Hanuman Jayanti or Hanumath Jayanti is celebated to observe the birth of Hanuman, the Vanara god, widely respected throughout the entire universe. It is celebrated all over India on the 15th day of the Shukla Paksha, during the month of Chaitra [Chaitra Pournimaa]. Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated on 19 April in 2019.
Hanuman is believed to be greatest follower of Lord Rama and known for his great strength, power and immortal devotion towards Lord Rama. Hanuman is considered to be as one of the most powerful Hindu gods in entire Universe. According to Hindu mythology, he is often referred to as ‘Pawanputra’, son of the God of Winds and is blessed with tremendous physical and mental strength.
Hanuman Jayanti celebrations start early morning with a special puja followed by day long yagya being performed by hanuman devotees. Special prayers and chanting of Hanuman chalisa is organised throughout the day by devotees. Hanuman is known for magical powers and symbol of power and strength. Hanuman jayanti is an occasion to remember Lord Hanuman’s extreme devotion towards Lord Rama.
